How We Work

A structured, milestone-driven process ensures clarity and confidence at
every phase.

What is included in a pre-design consultation?

Our pre-design consultation typically includes site analysis, zoning and feasibility review, up to 2 design options discussed, a written summary, and a clear roadmap for next steps. Higher-tier packages also include 3D scanning, feasibility reports, and planning calculations.

Most residential additions, new dwellings, and commercial works require either a Development Application (DA) or a Complying Development Certificate (CDC). Our team assesses your specific site and proposed works to determine the correct approval pathway and manages the process on your behalf.

Yes. MUSA Services operates across all major Australian cities including Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth. For regional projects, we work closely with local consultants and can conduct site visits where required. Remote projects are also welcome, with digital collaboration tools keeping everything on track.

To kick off, we typically need your property address, a description of what you’d like to achieve, your approximate budget range, and any existing drawings or reports you may have. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything — our discovery call will guide you through exactly what’s needed.

How long does the architectural design process take?
A typical residential concept design phase takes 4–8 weeks, depending on project complexity and client feedback cycles. DA preparation adds a further 4–6 weeks. Construction documentation follows approval and generally takes 6–12 weeks. We provide a detailed programme at project commencement.

Absolutely. Sustainable design is central to our practice. We integrate passive solar principles, natural ventilation, high-performance glazing, and insulation strategies from day one — not as an afterthought. We also prepare BASIX certificates for NSW projects and can coordinate NatHERS thermal performance reports.

We combine architectural design expertise with civil engineering and drafting under one roof — meaning fewer consultants, faster coordination, and better outcomes. Our fixed-fee packages provide certainty, and our dedicated project contacts mean you always know who to call. We’re known for being responsive, thorough, and genuinely collaborative.

Our consultation and concept design packages are fixed-fee. For larger projects (DA and construction documentation), fees are agreed upfront in a detailed proposal with a clear scope of works. Any variation to scope is documented and approved by you before additional work proceeds. No surprises.
